Larry Kurzweil is an Operating Partner at Butterfly and focuses primarily on the food & beverage product and foodservice sectors, and currently serves as a member of the board of directors for Lemonade Restaurant Group and Modern Market. Mr. Kurzweil also currently serves as President and CEO of Lemonade. He has over 35 years of experience in packaged food and hospitality and has held senior leadership positions with Darden Restaurants, Nestle and Universal Studios Hollywood, among others.
Prior to joining Butterfly, Mr. Kurzweil was President and Chief Operating Officer of Universal Studios Hollywood, the number one tourist destination in Los Angeles, from 1999 to 2016, where he oversaw the company’s iconic theme park and studio tour along with Universal CityWalk. He led a five-year, billion-dollar investment in the theme park culminating in the introduction of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2016. His responsibilities also included the adjacent Universal CityWalk, the first of its kind outdoor entertainment complex with over 60 restaurants, shops and entertainment venues. Previously, Mr. Kurzweil served as Executive Vice President of Marketing at Darden Restaurant’s Olive Garden where he was responsible for brand strategy and food & beverage development. Earlier in his career, he spent over 15 years in a variety of brand marketing and executive management positions at Allied Domecq QSR (Baskin Robbins USA), The Clorox Company (bottled water division), Nestle and General Mills.
In addition to his current roles with Lemonade and Modern Market, Mr. Kurzweil serves on the board of governors at Cedars-Sinai and the advisory board at the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission.
